A little over a decade ago, YouTube video went viral of a man who doled out free hugs with strangers on the street. This seemed to trigger hugging movements, and one person even started a Free Hugs project to spread love through hugs while raising awareness of social issues.
Now, a cute dog is ready to steal this job from that man.
Louboutina (nicknamed “Loubie”), named after famous Shoe designer Christian Louboutin, is a 5-year-old Golden Retriever who gives out hugs and handshakes to New Yorkers who pass her on the street.
To cuddle and hold hands, that’s her business,” Said Cesar Fernandez-Chavez, owner Loubie. “It’s her personality.”
Whenever Fernandez-Chavez takes her around their neighborhood, she usually ends up sitting next to a stranger at some point. Then, as “she bends over, I know she’s going to hug this person,” Fernandez-Chavez said.
Luby has been doing this since she was about six months old when Fernandez-Chavez received her as a gift after a traumatic breakup. Every day I hug her like a person.
“Maybe she took it from me,” he said.
If you want to see it for yourself, you’ll likely find it at the corner of 5th Avenue and 17th street in Union square. When she’s not there, Luby is at the hospital where Fernandez-Chavez works. All he has to do is open his office door, “and she goes and does her rounds for half an hour, hugging everyone.”
With all that, grace comes a little glory. She also has more than 195,000 followers in her Account on Instagram (@LouboutinaNYC).
As you can see from the photos, she’s a photogenic dog.
“She always looks at the camera. She knows when people take pictures of her. She’s a little actress, ” Fernandez-Chavez said.
Even with all the glory, it still makes its owner feel blessed to have her in his life.
“She makes me happy,” he said. “I have a simple life, but it makes her feel very rich.”
Dogs are the man’s best friend from the first day of humankind. People who have dogs in their homes know this feeling much better than other people. A dog is not just a pet that just sits at some corner of the house all the time, and don’t take part in house matters, But a dog becomes a part of a family in reality. And dogs even love to be a real part of the family and having attention to love and care from their family members. And if there is a situation that a member of a family is some danger or risk, then it will be dog first, who will risk its own life to save or rescue its family members.
